TEACHING

Our teachers are certified by the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada (IYAC). A complete list of Iyengar-certified teachers throughout Canada can be found on the IYAC website, www.iyengaryogacanada.com. Certificates granted in Mr. Iyengar's name by the IYAC are recognized worldwide. For those interested in becoming a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher, the Association provides a clearly defined program based on an International syllabus and standard set out by Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar. Ongoing teacher training courses are conducted at our yoga centre following this program.

Prospective trainees must have regularly attended classes with a certified Iyengar teacher for a minimum of three years before applying. Once accepted, trainees embark on a minimum two year apprenticeship that includes peer teaching, papers on anatomy, physiology, philosophy, asana and monthly teachers’ meetings.
